Safety or security film
One of the first questions we have to answer is whether we want a safety or a security window film. The goal of the safety film is to keep the glass unit in one piece and to prevent splintering in case of glass breakage. For this purpose, a film of 100 micron thickness is in most cases enough (S4). If we want a stronger protection, we should look for a solution over 175 micron (S7, S12).
Strong adhesive layer
One of the most important constituents of safety films is the adhesive layer. There are several products where the basic film has appropriate technical characteristics but the adhesive layer cannot provide the necessary adhesion to the glass. The causes of this phenomenon can be the thickness of the adhesive layer or the inappropriate structure.
